Hello, I’m Di Challenor,
the founder of Whistle Communications.

I'm a Brand Strategist and Copywriter with a lengthy and decidedly unglamorous background in Public Relations. I started Whistle in 2016 because I wanted to spend my days playing to my strengths and helping others play to theirs. My strengths happen to be: strategic planning, writing and editing for maximum impact. I’d love to hear about yours - and how I can help put you in the spotlight.

A little background on me

Prior to going out on my own, I spent over 15 years in Public Relations, working in both the public and private sector. My career, which started at global PR firm Hill & Knowlton, has spanned a variety of disciplines, including:

  • Marketing Communications
  • Public Affairs/Government and Media Relations
  • Corporate Communications
  • Community/Stakeholder Engagement

My various roles have given me insight into a range of people, places and industries, from public transport and construction to real estate, education, health, and consumer lifestyle. They've also helped me identify the things I do best.

If you're looking for someone who will take a genuine interest in your business, project or organisation, let's book a time to chat.

Why Whistle?

Well, that’s an easy one to answer. Working with me, you get:

  • an experienced professional who loves her work, and is willing spend quality time thinking deeply about your business and what can be done to help
  • agency experience without the agency price tag
  • me - and only me - working on your content or strategy (no juniors, no outsourcing)
  • access to my little black book of tried and tested creatives (web designers, graphic designers, photographers and video producers)
  • plenty of good humour along the way.

Who do I work for?

I work with all types of organisations: public or private, not-for-profit, big or small, provided our values align

Before we begin, you should know that while I’m a believer in the adage "everything you say or do is Public Relations," I'm not about saying or doing whatever it takes to win people over; I'm about understanding needs, finding common ground, and persuading with facts and ethical marketing tactics.

In the past, I’ve worked on some of Australia’s largest and most complex transport infrastructure projects, including the North West Metro and the Epping to Chatswood Rail Line, and I’ve worked with major brands, such as RSVP, Domain, Caltex and Jaguar.

With Whistle, I’ve been able to continue working with larger brands while also taking on projects for small to medium-sized businesses, including family-owned businesses and sole traders.

Most of my clients are Sydney-based like me; however some are from interstate so don’t be shy about getting in touch.
